I’ve been watching the news on the floods in Queensland with something of a sense of shock.

For instance, there’s a gallery of images here showing the flash flood in Toowoomba.

This has particular resonance for me as I was born in that town, and lived there for the first four years of my life. (If my family hadn’t come back to England in the late ’80s, I’d probably be personally caught up in all of this.)

I can only hope that our friends and relatives out there are safe, and that arrangements are made to help the people who’ve had to leave their homes or been left homeless by all this.

  1. It’s just awful watching peoples’ lives being washed away (sometimes literally) like that and it’s only been a couple of years since they had those huge bush fires further south 😦 My thoughts are definetly with the people of Australia at the moment.
